Interior renovation of an Art Déco apartment
- Surface: 150m²
- Objectives: Redistributing the space of the apartment and keeping the character of it
- Furniture: Massaud, Tacchini, Pianca, Saba, Carl Hansen
Renovation Highlighting the Apartment's Heritage Character
The owners and the interior designer were unanimous about preserving the heritage character of this apartment as much as possible during the interior renovation.
The original parquet with a "Point de Hongrie" pattern was sanded and varnished. Period moldings were preserved, along with all architectural and decorative traces of the past (furniture, light fixtures, radiators, doors, and door handles).
The color palette remains neutral (beige, taupe, or greige), while the materials are rich with oak, walnut, brass, and a variety of marbles.
Complete Redistribution of Spaces
The spacious entrance gallery serves both the day and night areas. After removing a load-bearing wall, the day area was designed as a large open space, combining a formal living room, a dining room, a family room, an office, and an open kitchen.
The night area includes the parents’ bedroom, the children’s bedrooms, and a guest bedroom. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The master bedroom also includes a gym. The long corridors of the apartment were optimized to create multiple discreet storage spaces.
Decidedly Contemporary Furniture
For furnishings and decoration, numerous decidedly contemporary pieces were selected, with diverse inspirations.
In the entrance, there is a leather daybed from Tacchini with a Bauhaus feel. In the formal living room, the Poliform de Massaud sofas are placed facing each other.
Two Fritz Hansen armchairs by Jamie Hayon are arranged around three coffee tables from Pianca in marble, metal, and lacquer, situated under an articulated suspension inspired by 1950s Danish modernism.
For the family room, a leather sofa from Saba was chosen for comfort, facing a large Pianca wall unit for the TV. In the dining room, a Fior di Pesco marble table is surrounded by Carl Hansen & Søn chairs in black-stained oak.
To complete and enrich the apartment's spirit, the courtyard-facing window panes were replaced with flute glass for a chic, retro touch.
A series of rugs from Toulemonde Bochart in neutral colors was chosen to delineate spaces.
A selection of paintings, decorative objects, and other accessories complements the vast volumes of this luxurious apartment.
